What is the parking time I’m allowed on city of Lampasas streets?: For a period not longer than seventy two (72) consecutive hours. Lampasas City Ordinance Chapter 78, Section 78-223 states, parking of a vehicle, if not otherwise restricted or prohibited by City Ordinance or placement of an obstruction on improved portion of any public street, city right-of-way or alleyway for a period longer than seventy-two hours (72) consecutive hours is prohibited.

1. Are boats/trailers/RVs allowed to park on city streets?

Lampasas City Ordinances, Chapter 78 Traffic and Vehicles Section 78-224 prohibits parking any boat, trailer, non-motor vehicle or recreational vehicle on any public street, except as provided by exception.

The exceptions are:

(1) Parking a boat, trailer, non-motor vehicle or non-motorized recreational vehicle on a public street that is connected or otherwise secure to a motor vehicle; provided such boat, non-motor vehicle or non-motorized recreational vehicle is in compliance with section 78-223.

(2) Parking a recreational vehicle on a public street, for the sole purpose of loading and unloading the recreational vehicle, but in no event for no longer than seventy-two (72) consecutive hours.

(3) Parking trailers, utility trailers, trailer-mounted equipment, or wheel-mounted machinery on a public street, when such trailers, machinery and equipment are specifically being utilized to serve a project that has received a permit from the City’s Building Department, but only for so long as the project is actively under development. All such equipment shall be removed from public streets within 72 hours after the project is completed.

3. If I move and re-park my vehicle, do I get an additional seventy-two (72) consecutive hours?: Yes, if the vehicle is moved then your time will re-start.

4. What happens if someone is in violation of this City Ordinance?: The Lampasas Police Department will attempt to locate the owner/responsible person to simply inform them of the City Ordinance violation and give them an opportunity to comply with it. If they comply, the issue will be resolved with a warning and no further action will be taken; however, If no owner information or responsible person is known or located then after 48 hours, usually 72 hours depending on the circumstances, the vehicle is considered an abandoned vehicle in accordance with City Ordinance Chapter 34 and the Texas Transportation Code Section 683.002 and can be towed. If the owner/responsible person is contacted and they do not comply with this City Ordinance, they can be issued a Class C Misdemeanor parking citation and their vehicle/boat/trailer/RV, etc. can be towed.
