1. Who do I contact if I have a water leak or sewer backup?

The Water and Wastewater Department is responsible for maintaining and repairing all water and wastewater lines within the city service area. If you have a backup in your wastewater lines or a water break, please contact the Public Works Secretary at 512-556-8315 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays. We will send a crew out immediately to take care of the problem.

2. Where can I go to take brush?

The City of Lampasas has two annual brush chipping programs during the month of March and November. During these months the Street Department goes down every street in the City limits to pick up brush. Any other time throughout the year a customer can bring brush to the Public Works Facility, located at 201 Brown Street, Monday-Friday at 1:00 p.m. The customer must also bring a copy of their utility bill to show that they are a City customer.

3. What do I do if I am experiencing water pressure problems?

If you find that your water pressure is low and you own a water softener system, check an outside faucet. If the pressure is good outside, then the problem is usually the water softener. There is a bypass valve that can be turned off in order to bypass the system. If this does not work, check any inside faucets that have screens. When a softener goes out, it usually passes a sandy material into the pipes which can clog up the screens. If the outside pressure is low, then you will need to contact the Public Works Secretary at (512) 556-8315 between 7:00am and 4:00pm, Monday - Friday, or after hours at the Police Department (512) 556-6235.

4. What if my water looks brown in color or cloudy?

The water that runs from your faucet or shower may occasionally become discolored due to water main breaks or testing fire hydrants. Do not be alarmed if your water is suddenly discolored. This water is still safe to drink. The discoloration is caused by an unusually high sediment content, which results from sudden changes in the system. When the cause of the problem is corrected, the sediments will be removed from the system. Notify the Public Works Secretary that there is a problem by calling (512) 556-8315 Monday - Friday between 7:00am and 4:00pm, or (512) 556-6235 at the Police Department after normal business hours.

5. How can I report a Street Repair or Pothole Repair?

Street maintenance and repairs includes potholes or other problems which may be dangerous to pedestrians or vehicles. If you notice a street that needs to be repaired, please report it to the Public Works Secretary at (512)556-8315, between 7:00am and 4:00pm, Monday - Friday or (512) 556-6235 at the Police Department after hours.

6. Who do I contact when a drainage ditch is clogged or overgrown?

The Street Department is responsible for maintaining the flow of water through ditches in public right-of-ways and easements receiving storm water runoff. This system consists of inlets or catch basins, open channels and ditches, underground pipelines, and detention ponds. City crews periodically clean the banks of the drainage ditches and remove any obstacles obstructing the flow of water through the ditch.
Residents are urged not to dispose of leaves or grass clippings into open drainage systems or to place any debris in a location that would impede the flow of water into the underground system. Such action may result in serious flooding. Primarily, your responsibility is to help eliminate the amount of debris deposited in the ditches or on the ditch banks that can cause flooding. This waste can accumulate in and pollute areas adjacent to the ditches, streams, and lakes, diminishing their aesthetic value.

In the event of flooding due to blockage of the storm drains system or the drain is overgrown and needs repair, residents may call the Public Works Secretary between 7:00am and 4:00pm, Monday - Friday at (512) 556-8315. In the event of a flooding emergency at any other time, call (512) 556-6235 at the Police Department.

7. Who do I contact regarding tree limbs on the Power lines?

To prevent tree limbs from damaging or falling on electrical lines, the City of Lampasas Electric Department trims those tree limbs which are in the electric lines. To report limbs that are growing too close to or have fallen on electrical lines, please call the Public Works Secretary at (512) 556-8315 Monday - Friday between 7:00am and 4:00pm, or (512) 556-6235 at the Police Department after hours.

8. Who do I contact if my electricity goes out?

If you have a power failure, first check your house circuit breakers. Breaker boxes are often located inside the house, possibly in a closet or in the hallway. Sometimes breaker boxes are installed outside the house next to the actual electric meter. The breakers may have tripped to the off position. If you find that your breakers are all still in the "on" position, call the Public Works Secretary at (512) 556-8315 between 7:00am and 4:00pm, or at (512) 556-6235 at the Police Department after hours, holidays, or weekends.

9. When is the Brush Chipping Program?

Brush chipping program is in March and then again in November. Put your limbs and brush by your front curb and when it is time for your area to get picked up, they will be there.

10. Can they get limbs or brush by my porch?

The brush or limbs must be at the front curb, the city is not allowed to go on private property.

11. When can I take my brush to the City Barn facilities at 201 Brown Street?

Monday thru Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The barn is not open on the weekends.

12. Is Clean Sweep week the same as Household Hazardous Waste Day?

They are not the same; we do try to have Clean Sweep Saturday and Household Hazardous Waste Day at the the same time if we get the grant for Household Hazardous Waste Day. The Clean Sweep is in April.

13. If I want some of the dirt from a dig site, what do I need to do?

You may fill out a spoils release form and the Street Superintendent will come and check out where you want the spoils put. He will sign off on the request and then you will be able to have the dirt.

14. What do I need to do if I want some mulch from the City Facility?

You may fill out a mulch waiver and get it back to Public Works.
