1. Will the Police Department unlock my car if I locked the keys in it? Is there a fee?

The P.D. will attempt to unlock your car, but may have to refer you to a locksmith or auto dealer if the officer is unable to. This is a free service.

2. How can I obtain a copy of a police or accident report

You may obtain a police report directly from the Lampasas Police Department. For information call 512-556-6235.

3. How do I report a crime?

Dial 911 and be prepared to provide the following information: Type of crime Location of crime Crime in progress or when it occurred Description of vehicle Description of suspect Suspect armed? Direction of travel Give your name, address, and phone number Stay on line until you are told to hang up If you come home to find you have been burglarized, do not enter your house or apartment. Immediately find a phone and call the police. Wait at a safe nearby location until they arrive. You may also report a crime through Hill Country Crime Stoppers .

4. Where do I get a driver's license?

The local DPS office or through Texas Department of Public Safety .

5. What is the curfew for teenagers?

Young adults age 16 and under can not be on the city streets or in public after 11:00 PM on Monday through Thursday nights or after 12:00 midnight on Friday or Saturday nights with a few exceptions (contact police for details).

6. Do I or my children have to wear seatbelts?

Yes

7. Do you have House Watch?

Yes. The Lampasas Police Department has House Watch and extra patrol. To place a residence on House Watch, or extra patrol, the citizen can either call the dispatcher or come into the the Police Department to fill out the House Watch Form.

8. Is it against the law to use a cell phone while driving?

No. However, any distractions while driving could cause an accident.
