CodeRED Emergency Notification System is an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system telephones all or targeted areas of the County in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action (such as a boil-water notice, missing child or evacuation notices). The system is capable of dialing 60,000 phone numbers per hour. It then delivers a pre-recorded message describing the situations to a live person or an answering machine in the affected area possibly including instructions requiring action on the part of the recipient. Once the situation is remedied, another call will be placed to the area signaling that the issue has been addressed and that normal activities can be resumed.
If you wish to receive these emergency notifications, please take a moment to visit the Code Red website to sign up to be notified by your local emergency response team in the event of emergency situations or critical community alerts. Examples include: evacuation notices, bio-terrorism alerts, boil water notices, and missing child reports. Communities covered by the Code Red alert system include all residents and businesses located inside of Bell County, Coryell County, Hamilton County, Lampasas County, Milam County, Mills County, and San Saba County. All Lampasas county and city residents are encouraged to sign up to receive the alerts. If you are currently signed up for First Call notifications, you will need to re-register with Code Red.
